This is a red-letter day for Northland!

It was a cold wet morning today (Thursday 12 June) but that didn't diminish the warmth of our welcome to MV Brio Faith, the MOVe Oceans vessel that will operate the brand-new trans-Tasman service linking Northport with Brisbane and Port Alma in Queensland, and Tasmania’s Bell Bay.

The first scheduled cruise ship to call at Whangārei in 2025 berthed at Northport on Saturday (18 January). The Azamara Pursuit, with 658 passengers aboard, was the first of four cruise calls scheduled for the region this summer.

North Tugz, the company that provides towage and pilotage services in Whangārei Harbour, has welcomed a powerful replacement pilot boat to its fleet.

Some of Northland’s dairy exports are now heading overseas through the region’s own port in a trial involving Fonterra and Kotahi, New Zealand’s largest containerised freight manager.
