Jon Moore

Chief Executive Officer

Jon was appointed CEO in June 2007. He is also a director of North Tugz Ltd. Prior to Northport, Jon was the Deputy Harbourmaster for the Fremantle Port Authority and the Regional Harbourmaster in the Bay of Plenty.


Jae Staite

Operations & Marine Manager

Jae joined Northport in 2010 as Marine Supervisor and became Operations and Marine Manager in July 2016. Prior to joining Northport, Jae worked for the Auckland Regional Council's Harbourmasters Office and the Royal New Zealand Navy.


Greg Bloomfield

Terminal Facilities Manager

Greg joined Northport in 2008 as Terminal Facilities Manager. He trained as a Land Surveyor and gained experience in the initial construction of Stage 1 of the port.


Nick Monsen

CHIEF FINANCIAL MANAGER

Nick started as Company Accountant in July 2003. He is also Company Secretary for Northport Ltd and North Tugz. Nick is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand and the Institute of Directors.


David Finchett

COMMERCIAL MANAGER

David has more than 20 years of experience in senior operations, project and technical roles. Before joining Northport in 2014, he was the Infrastructure and Operations Manager at the Trawsfynydd nuclear power station in Wales. David is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.

Julia Hoare

Northport Group Ltd Chair 
Port of Tauranga Chair

Julia has extensive governance, financial and commercial expertise in both the private and public sectors. She has a strong governance pedigree and is currently Chair of Northport Group, Port of Tauranga and Auckland International Airport. She is also a Director of PrimePort Timaru and Meridian Energy, and a member of the Chapter Zero New Zealand Steering Committee and the ASX Chairs Forum. 

 

She has a wide range of commercial, financial, tax, regulatory and sustainability expertise developed from both her extensive governance roles and over the course of two decades as a partner with PwC. 

 

Her professional experience and Board roles have given her valuable insight across a diverse range of sectors including transport and logistics, infrastructure, utilities, international FMCG and sustainable business practices. 

 

Julia joined the Northport Group Board in June 2025.


Leonard Sampson

Port of Tauranga Chief Executive 
Northport Group Ltd Director

Leonard is the Chief Executive of Port of Tauranga. He joined Port of Tauranga in 2013 as General Manager Commercial, leading commercial strategy and customer growth. He was appointed Chief Operating Officer in 2019, with responsibility for operational performance and capability across the port’s activities, and became Chief Executive in 2021. 

He has a strong background in supply chain and logistics and has held senior roles in the transport, supply chain and industrial sectors, with companies such as KiwiRail, Carter Holt Harvey and Mainfreight. He is known for a practical, customer-focused approach and for driving performance through strong operational discipline and long-term planning. 

Leonard joined the Northport Group Board in June 2025.


Dean Bracewell

Port of Tauranga Director 
Northport Group Ltd Director

Dean is currently the Chair of Property for Industry, and a Director of Port of Tauranga and Air New Zealand. He held roles at Freightways for over 30 years, including Managing Director between 1999 and 2017. During this period he led the company through its successful IPO in 2003, and as it diversified its business and extended its geographical footprint throughout Australia. 

Dean has previously served on the Boards of the Halberg Foundation, Tainui Group Holdings, and the public policy think tank The NZ Initiative and its predecessor the NZ Business Roundtable. 

He joined the Northport Group Board in June 2025.


David Pilkington

Northport Group Ltd Director

David is a highly-experienced governance professional who has chaired the Boards of many of New Zealand’s highest-profile organisations. His directorships have spanned a range of companies including cooperatives, privately-owned, public and NZX listed entities, and his governance experience includes time in Audit, Remuneration and other Committee roles. He is a Chartered Fellow of the NZ Institute of Directors and in 2019 he was recognised by the Deloitte Top 200 as Chairperson of the Year. David chairs Fonterra’s Milk Price Panel. 

He joined the Northport Group Board in June 2025.


Julian Smith

Northport Group Ltd Director

Julian is an experienced governance leader with more than 20 years’ experience across major capital projects, digital transformation and technology sector leadership. He recently led New Zealand’s largest capital raise to support Auckland’s $13b water infrastructure and brings strong expertise in strategy, customer management, corporate affairs and digital governance. 

He is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors and currently serves on the boards of Watercare, CDL Investments, MetService and the Look Good Feel Better Trust. He holds an LLB and BCom from the University of Auckland and a Certificate in Cybersecurity from Harvard University. 

He joined the Northport Group Board in June 2025.


Lindsay Faithfull

Northport Group Ltd Director

Lindsay is Managing Director and majority owner of McKay, a leading New Zealand electrotechnology company employing over 800 people with operations across New Zealand and the United States. He brings extensive governance and executive experience across investment, infrastructure, energy and industrial sectors, with a strong focus on strategy, capital delivery and long-term asset performance. 

Lindsay is Deputy Chair of the Ngāpuhi investment fund Tupu Tonu, and a director of Naut Ltd. He is a Chartered Member of Engineering New Zealand and the UK Institution of Engineering and Technology, a UK Chartered Engineer, and a Member of the Institute of Directors. He holds a BE(Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Canterbury. 

Lindsay was appointed a director of Northport Group in June 2025.
