Julia Hoare joined the Board in August 2015 and took over the Chair in August 2022. She has a wide range of commercial, financial, tax, regulatory and sustainability expertise developed from both her extensive governance roles and over the course of two decades as a partner with PwC.
Julia is the Chair of Auckland International Airport Limited, and a Director of Meridian Energy Limited and Port of Tauranga Trustee Company Limited. She is also a Member of the Chapter Zero New Zealand Steering Committee
Benoit Marcenac - Director of Northport Ltd & Chairman Marsden Maritime Holdings
Benoit has more than 30 years' experience in the logistics, agri-food processing and trading sectors, through a number of executive positions held in different regions around the world.
In 2002, the Marcenac family settled in New Zealand and made it their new homeland.
Leonard Sampson- Port of Tauranga Chief Executive and Northport Ltd Director
Leonard was appointed to role of Chief Executive of Port of Tauranga on 1 July 2021, having previously been the Chief Operating Officer since September 2019.
He joined the Company as Port of Tauranga's Commercial Manager in 2013 from the role of General Manager - Sales at KiwiRail. He also held senior roles at Carter Holt Harvey and Mainfreight.
Rosie Mercer - Director of Northport Ltd and Chief Executive of Marsden Maritime Holdings
Rosie holds a BE(Hons) (Civil), MEngNZ and is a member of the Institute of Directors.
She was appointed general manager of sustainability at Ports of Auckland in April 2019 and has nine years of experience in management, leadership and engineering.
Rosie was a member and deputy chair of the Provincial Growth Fund Independent Advisory Panel from 2018 until March 2021. She served in the NZ Army in Afghanistan in 2009 and 2010 as an engineer officer for the Provincial Reconstruction Team.
David Finchett - Commercial Manager
David was previously Northport's Port Operations Manager and has more than 20 years of experience in senior operations, project and technical roles on high value, safety critical and complex sites. Before joining Northport in 2014, he was the infrastructure and Operations Manager at the Trawsfynydd nuclear power station in Wales.
His early career involved working with the Royal Navy’s nuclear submarine fleet.
David is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, and holds an Honours Degree in Engineering.
Nick Monsen - Chief Financial Officer
Nick started his employment as the Company Accountant in July 2003. Prior to joining Northport, Nick was the Management Accountant at Cogent/Ubix in Auckland and the Operations Finance Planning Manager with Lion Breweries.
Nick is also the Company Secretary for Northport Ltd and North Tugz.
Nick is a member of the Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand and Institute of Directors.
Greg Blomfield - Terminal Facilities Manager
Greg joined Northport in 2008 as the Terminal Facilities Manager. He is responsible for the development and maintenance of the land and wharf infrastructure and services, including buildings and mobile plant. In this role, he is able to work with existing and new customers to help facilitate their development needs as well as supporting Northport’s Operations team and port users alike.
Jon Moore - Chief Executive Officer
Jon was appointed CEO in June 2007. He is also a director of North Tugz Ltd, a company jointly owned by Northport Ltd and Ports of Auckland.
Prior to Northport, Jon was the Deputy Harbourmaster for the Fremantle Port Authority, WA and the Regional Harbourmaster/Maritime Manager in the Bay of Plenty.
